I have always liked the stamping on Japanese prints.

Playing with strong black & white graphics - teacher once mentioned to me the importance of being strict, and using only Black & White focused my attention to the strength between negative and positive spaces.

Is that wood spare?? - Give it here!!

Running out of canvas to paint, that solid wood I was meant to put up as a shelf was finally useful.

I adore Japanese woodblock prints (& general culture), so I picked out my favourite elements, such as simplicity & cposition, while paying more attention to the only details available.

Materials used: teak varnish & oil paints on wood.

Canvas número dos

While unsure about the next move, I have learnt that it is healthy to work on several pieces at a time, this gives me a break & refreshing look at the previous painting.

'abstract' maybe a word overused...but in this case I literally forced brushstrokes before I had any idea of the finished article. I then just let the inital strokes just lead me in the composition as I go along. Definitely a good way of excercising & avoids the dreaded 'writers block' scenario.

Oil painting??

Why paint? - a lot of people I speak to who used to paint tells me just how much they miss it but now they do not have the time...then I realise if I am not to make a point of painting now - then I will soon find myself in the same scenario.

Gladly I have more reason to paint now thanks to riseart.com, until then the idea of actually selling a painting appeared a school boys daydream.

This is a sneek peak at the new canvas I'm working on.
