Is that wood spare?? - Give it here!!

Running out of canvas to paint, that solid wood I was meant to put up as a shelf was finally useful.

I adore Japanese woodblock prints (& general culture), so I picked out my favourite elements, such as simplicity & cposition, while paying more attention to the only details available.

Materials used: teak varnish & oil paints on wood.

Canvas nĂºmero dos

While unsure about the next move, I have learnt that it is healthy to work on several pieces at a time, this gives me a break & refreshing look at the previous painting.

'abstract' maybe a word overused...but in this case I literally forced brushstrokes before I had any idea of the finished article. I then just let the inital strokes just lead me in the composition as I go along. Definitely a good way of excercising & avoids the dreaded 'writers block' scenario.
